Ms. Mongioj's 8 Tips for Managing Band with School & Sports!
1. Check the google classroom every Sunday. Here you can check the lesson schedule and start the week off on the right foot!
2. Find a time to practice that works best for you and stick with it! Try to find at least one time a week that you can regularly practice. Nothing to do Thursdays after dinner? Practice every Thursday and make it a routine.
3. The more you practice, the more confident you feel! Knowing your band music is always a great feeling, and being able to play it together with an ensemble is even better! You'll have a lot more fun if you're ready to go, even if you only played through your band music once or twice.
4. Get to your lessons! Had a busy week with extra soccer practice, a big tournament, and didn't get the chance to practice? Get to your lesson! We will review anything you needed to practice and you'll get the opportunity to ask any questions you have! You'll feel a lot better in band class having reviewed your music!
5. Struggling in a specific class? If you feel like every time you miss Math you never seem to be able to catch up, come talk to us! We can exempt you from a specific lesson period, or work out a solution with your teacher so you don't miss out on important information!
6. Feel like you need extra help or time to practice? Come use the practice rooms in the morning! Mr. Piepoli or myself are always available 7:30 - 8:00am to let you practice in one of our sound proof rooms. Best part? If you get stuck or have a quick question, we are there to help!
7. Use your practice time as a way to decompress. Try playing in-between homework assignments to give yourself a break. Or try playing something you know well before you go to bed or in the morning before you start the school day (this may not be the best time to try something new, but a great time to review what you know and relax!)
8. Have fun! Don't like any of the band music? Let us know! We can get you music for most of the songs you may want to play! OR we can find something different & enjoyable for you to play in your free time that will help you become a better player (without having to play the same band songs over and over).
